Accessibility

Fynoptic teaches people to spot junk fees, dark patterns, and subscription traps. That mission falls apart if the site itself is hard to use, so here's a plain account of where things actually stand — what works today, what's still in progress, and how to tell us when something doesn't work for you.

Keyboard use

You can operate the whole site without a mouse.

  • A "Skip to content" link is the first thing focused when you tab in. Activating it jumps straight to the main content, past the header navigation.
  • Every dialog — sign in, sign up, password reset, and the other in-page modals across the site — traps keyboard focus while it's open, closes on Escape, and returns focus to whatever you were doing when it opened.
  • The mobile menu closes with Escape, with its own close button, or by tapping a link in it.
  • The fee ticket on the homepage and the feature section further down the page are both fully keyboard-operable: arrow keys move between rows or panels, and each one shows its own detail as you go.

Reduced motion

If your system is set to reduce motion, Fynoptic follows it. The homepage's rotating headline word freezes on the first word instead of cycling. The feature section further down the homepage swaps its scroll-driven, blurring effect for a plain, static set of tabs — nothing is left blurred or invisible. We test this directly rather than just hoping the CSS holds up.

High contrast and dyslexia-friendly type

This one is honest work-in-progress. The site can remember a high-contrast preference and a dyslexia-friendly typeface preference, but there's no visible switch to turn either one on yet — the plumbing exists, the button doesn't. If you need either of these today, email us and we'll help directly while we finish building the control.

Color contrast

We don't have a published contrast-ratio target yet, and an internal audit has already found spots that likely fall short, particularly on text near transitions and animations. We haven't fixed all of it. If something is hard to read because of low contrast, that's exactly the kind of report that helps us fix the right things first.
